Is it Too Late To Post About Xmas?

Probably. But the past month has been a blur of western Xmas, Ethiopian Xmas, the sparrows’ 18 month pediatrician checkups and shots, our second (and last!) adoption court date, the citizenification of both girls, and the usual round of school/work/poop/Sesame Street. Click below for updates, and videos.

There was some great news this month: both girls are doing really well, and according to their doctor, while they are a couple of string beans (top of the height charts, bottom of the weight charts), height/weight ratios are staying pretty constant, which is the main thing. Everyone has a giant skull, and nobody likes getting vaccinated, and best of all, this week M. finally finished her 9 month TB regime, which is a Giant Relief because our whole day, every day, revolves around this medication, and timing this medication, and all the foods that cannot be eaten within X number of hours of taking this medication, and trying to figure out how to feed a toddler who is very underweight while at the same time sticking to the medical protocol is just a hopeless endeavour. Plus, that stuff tastes like a watery mix of hobo’s socks, pigeon feathers, and cat poop. But we are DONE!

We spent our first Family Day hanging out at home, eating and dancing. There is nothing these girls love more than dancing, and as you can see, they are very, very good at it :) Veggie Dance, a Sesame Street segment, is the most exciting dance music, ever, and they stand at the TV, entranced, rocking back and forth and dancing. And we laugh at them. And then B bought me a Flip HD camera so we can film it and put it on the internet for everyone to laugh at.

Both girls love to talk, but M in particular tells speeches. The good news is, she is very expressive, loves interactive conversations, and has a LOT to say. The bad news is, she makes all of her words up! But an utter lack of command of the language does not stop her.

Outtakes and bloopers reel. “I am running …. I am running… I am…[faceplant]. I’m OK!”

A few notes regarding the videos:

#1. your house would look like this, too, if you had this kind of shenanigans running around in it all day

#2. the kids are very busy, and part of that is that they have to put on hats and run around, and then admire themselves wearing those hats. We just film it, we don’t stage it.

#3 next to admiring themselves in the mirror, their favourite game is to collapse on the floor while we throw our arms up in the air and get very dramatic with the ‘Sainted Jesus, don’t take my baby’ talk. Its to the point where they flop down, look at us, and start screaming in laughter before I can even get out one little “Don’t go into the light, baby!”
